SAHLA SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION

The purpose of the San Antonio Hotel & Lodging Association scholarship fund is to financially assist San Antonio students who have demonstrated a desire to pursue a career in the hotel and hospitality industry. This application will be considered for the academic year 2020-2021.

 

Each student applicant must comply with the eligibility and selection criteria and requirements of the San Antonio Hotel & Lodging Association.

 

The SAHLA Scholarship Fund can present up to $10,000 annually for graduating high school seniors and/or current undergraduate students pursuing a major in a hospitality related field at an accredited institution.

 

Scholarship funds can be used to cover expenses for tuition and educational fees only. Winning recipients will have a check forwarded directly to their respective educational institution to be applied toward educational expenses.

 

Preference will be given to students who are a) from San Antonio, b) attending school in San Antonio, c) working at a SAHLA member hotel, and/or d) attending a high school that is a member of H.E.A.T. (Hospitality Educators Association of Texas). However, winners who do not fit this criterion will be selected if no eligible students meet these requirements.

All applicants must:


a) be pursuing an Associate's or Bachelor's degree and must be enrolled at least part-time (part-time is defined as a minimum of 6 credit hours per semester; full-time is defined as a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester);

b) hold a minimum overall GPA of 3.0 or higher;

c) be currently employed in the service industry at least 20 hours per week, preferably at a SAHLA member hotel


FINALISTS WILL BE EXPECTED TO PARTICIPATE IN A PANEL INTERVIEW FOR THE FINAL ROUND OF EVALUATION

SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS WILL BE EXPECTED TO COMMIT TO 10 HOURS OF VOLUNTEER SERVICE AT SAHLA EVENTS PER SEMESTER
